Bratislava Zoo and DinoPark
Since we just live uphill and within walking distance from the Bratislava Zoo, we decided to go. I haven’t been to a zoo in 20 years and this was the first time for Skye. I haven’t been to Hogle in decades and so I don’t remember it to have it to compare it to. Some parts seem pretty run down but other parts seemed fairly new. Skye loved it!!
5 months in the BA of the SK
Holy cow, I can’t believe it’s been just over 5 months since we crash landed here. Some days I absolutely love being here; on a perfect Bratislava spring day when I realize we are “Living In Europe”. Have I mentioned how gorgeous their spring is!? I know it sounds crazy, how spectacular can one season be somewhere else? I can’t quite explain it either, but something about the sunny, 70° weather in conjunction with the overly lush vegetation makes for very happy Slovaks. Not quite happy enough to smile about it, but I know it’s under there somewhere on days like this.
Techinical Museum of Vienna
Last weekend we went back to Vienna, just because we could. I love how close it is and it doesn’t take a major production to go, we can just decide that morning.
First of all, there are about a bazillion museums in Vienna. The Technical Museum and House of Music were the first on our list of museums to visit. It took a little longer getting there, and the technical museum is gigantic, so we didn’t have time to go to the House of Music. Next time.
Tatrabanka pt2
Last time we left off with me holding the wrong credit card to get into my calculator device, thus allowing me to use internet banking.
Budapest
Last weekend we went to Budapest, Hungary. It’s a 2.5 hour train ride so we decided to stay overnight. We left early Saturday morning (nothing says Trip like the alarm NOT going off at 4am when you have to leave by 5) on the 6am train. I was a little anxious about Skye and the train ride, but she did great on the way down. On the way home, though, she was a lot more restless and we had our stuff piled all over our cabin trying to keep her happy and entertained. Seriously, we had a cabin to ourselves, until the last 30 seconds a single guy comes in with a reservation (since it was a holiday weekend). Poor bloke.
Thanks, from Skye
So my family sent some awesome belated gifts for Skye’s birthday. These are all of the pics we could get of her doing a fashion show of her cute new clothes before she got ornery (or they were blurry because she doesn’t hold still even for a second). Thanks again, the dog onesies were awesome (they sent onesies with Sam, Moxi, Kona, Lucy and Cooper on each). Plus the way cute jacket and hat, it was all a really pleasant surprise. Thanks again! We’ll try to get more pics of her in the rest soon.
Welcome Reese
A big fat Congratulations to my boy Josh and his wife Kati who just had their first child, Reese Daniel Farrer who was born at 5:58a MDT. He weighed in at barely under 7 lbs. and 20 in. long. We hear that both mom and baby are doing great. So Congratulations to both Josh and Kati, and welcome to Earth, Reese, there’s beer in the fridge.
If you ever come to Bratislava,

- good walking shoes
- cheddar
- bus etiquette, wait, you can leave that at home
- coin purse
- Pam cooking spray
- root beer
- box spring mattress
T-Mobile… smart? not so much
chelsea wanted a new phone, and was looking at the BlackBerry, and because Verizon has a propensity for handicapping phones, I didn’t want to buy a BlackBerry from them. so we switched to T-Mobile, but this required us to sign a new 2-year contract, which is fine, but then we moved to Slovakia, and they don’t have service here. so we called up T-Mobile after we arrived and they said it’s fine, just get them proof that we are in fact living overseas and they’ll remove the $400 early cancellation fee.
